Hi all,
I would need some help. I have a layer of an island and a layer of roads on that island (using ArcMap). I need to make a 1×1 km2 grid and calculate length of roads in each square. Any ideas how to do that?
Thank you for help!

You could try 'Create Fishnet' to create a polygon grid (1×1 km2 ), use the new grid to clip your road layer into segments, then use calculate geometry to provide you the length of each segment. Depending on the complexity of your road network, you may have multiple road segments within your 1×1 km2 blocks. Might just be simple enough to combine multiple ones together before calculating geometry if there are just a few, but if there are more then you may want to create a script to help you out ...

As said above, the Create Fishnet is good for creating the grid.
From there, perhaps use Frequency with the Sum option, grouping by roads and the Fishnet grid.
