The answer's in the title, but this is no ordinary cartography.

Mu Cartographer is alien, mysterious and arcane. It's a game that plays with themes of navigation, scanning and discovery through a minimal but complex interface that rewards experimentation and feels strangely natural, like playing with historical equipment. The Age of Discovery / expeditionary plot is slowly revealed by discovering diary entries and reminds me very much of Nabokov's hallucinogenic Terra Incognita.

A favourite.

(P.S. I'm collecting these map-themed games on my new Curator's page on Steam, Cartogaming, if you fancy a look)
