GI_Forum 2018 - me | places | spaces
Ultimately, human individuals are at the centre of attention. Even more so in Geoinformatics – at any moment in time we are located at a particular place. This location defines context through surroundings, the current environment, and possible spaces for decisions and actions. However, location also raises concerns about privacy and security. The position of individuals enables spatial aggregation towards densities and flows, and thus in turn statistically defines peoples‘ exposure against all kinds of impact factors. The human individual is set at the detailed end of a space-time scale range: today‘s pervasive positioning empowers operational geoinformatics across scales.

GI_Forum provides a platform for dialogue among geospatial minds, creating an informed GeoInformation Society, hoping to contribute to a more just, ethical and sustainable society. Prominent keynote speakers will highlight new developments, offer visionary insights into trends and developments, and at the same time be individually accessible for our Young Researchers.

GI_Forum is organized by the University of Salzburg, under the coordination of the Department of Geoinformatics – Z_GIS and in cooperation with the Austrian Academy of Sciences, and runs concurrently with the highly regarded German language conference on Applied Geoinformatics – AGIT. The two symposia share the innovative AGIT EXPO exhibit and stimulating social Events.

We're looking forward to welcoming you to GI_Forum 2018!
